ISLAMABAD: The Consortium for Asia Pacific & Eurasian Studies (CAPES), in collaboration with MGIMO University, Russia, hosted a virtual consultative dialogue with representatives from over 20 leading academic and research institutions across Pakistan to explore avenues for enhanced academic cooperation.

Prof. Dr. Alexander Nikitin, Director of the Institute for International Studies at MGIMO University, introduced the institution and highlighted its academic initiatives. He emphasized the MGIMO Fellowship Program “Inter-Russia” as a key platform to strengthen academic ties between Pakistan and Russia, inviting Pakistani students and professionals to participate.

Dr. Gul-i-Ayesha Bhatti, Director of the Eurasia Chapter at CAPES, presented an overview of the consortium and its ongoing efforts to promote Pakistan-Russia academic collaboration.

The session featured an engaging discussion where representatives from Pakistani universities shared insights and recommendations to advance joint academic and research initiatives. Notable participants included Dr. Shabbir Ahmed Khan (Area Study Center, University of Peshawar), Dr. Sarwat Rauf (Head, Department of International Relations, NUML), Dr. Usman Askari (Chair, Department of Politics and International Relations, UMT Lahore), and Dr. Sobia Hanif (Assistant Professor, Fatima Jinnah Women University), among others.

Key areas identified for collaboration included joint research projects, academic exchange programs, and opportunities for scholarly publications in affiliated journals.

The session was moderated by Dr. Faisal Javaid, Senior Vice President CAPES, and provided a valuable platform for fostering academic engagement and long-term institutional partnerships between MGIMO University and Pakistan’s higher education sector.
