KOHAT: Pakistan Writers Guild Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has organized a first ever literary event at Bacha Khan Library Kohat in which poets and writers from different cities of the province participated in large number. The event was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Gandhara University Peshawar Prof. Dr. Ijaz Hassan Khattak while former Principal of Government College Shirwan Abbottabad Prof. Malik Nasir Daud was the chief guest.
The event was also addressed by the provincial secretary of the guild Aseer Gul Mengal, Amjad Ali Khadim, Dr. Banaras Khan Khattak, Dr. Shakir Orakzai, Khalid Pakhtun, Feroz Khan Sadiq, Masoom Shah Masoom, Dr. Noor Ul-Basr Aman, Qasim Mahmood, Syed Zafar Shah Zafar, Ghandal Khan Ghandal, Murad Ali Murad, Gul Habib Habib, Gul Nazir Mengal and others.
The literary services of the late Ahmed Faraz, Professor Preshan Khattak, Ayub Sabir, Roman Sagher and Ilyas Talwal were paid great tribute in the ceremony.
Guest of honor, former MPA Dr. Iqbal Fana, said that living nations do not forget their elders but rather publicize their thoughts. He emphasized that the thoughts of the deceased poets and writers should be published as soon as possible.
Professor Malik Arshad Hussain said that a poet and writer does not ask for anything from anyone except love and happiness. The Chief Guest, Professor Malik Nasir Daud, appreciated the successful holding of the ceremony in Kohat and said that the land of Kohat is very fertile in every respect. Literary figures like Rustam Kiani, Ayub Sabir and Ahmed Faraz have been born here.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ijaz Ahsan, while appreciating the literary services of the Pakistan Writers Guild, said that this organization fully accepts and encourages books in regional languages and their authors, which is highly commendable.
On this occasion, awards and prizes were given to the books published in Pashto and Hindko languages in 2023 and 2024 and their authors, including Dr. Iqbal Fana’s book “The Text of the Principles of Editing and Khushal Khattak’s Collection” in Pashto, Hairan Khattak’s book “Zolni Di Sharangum Ye”, Iqrar Afridi’s book “The Life and Life of Tahir Afridi”, Professor Tariq Mahmood Danish’s book “Dard Dil”, Qaiser Afridi’s book “Khuday Me Zakah Khokh De”, while in Hindko, Muhammad Nawaz Sabir’s book “Athro Dil De”, Malik Arshad Hussain’s book “Khawan Da Saudagar”, Professor Malik Nasir Dawood’s book “Alchemist”, Abdul Waheed Bismal’s book “Hindko Rahtal” and Bushra Farrukh’s book “Janan Ma Muhammad” were presented.
Later, the organizers also visited the graves of the late Ayub Sabir and late Roman Sagher and prayed for their eternal peace.
