PESHAWAR: The District Inter-Club Weightlifting Tournament will commence tomorrow, January 26, at the Peshawar Sports Complex and will continue until January 28. The three-day event will feature athletes from all registered weightlifting clubs of Peshawar, providing them with an important platform to showcase their strength, fitness, and technical skills. All necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the tournament have been finalized by the organizing committee.
Speaking exclusively to Emroz TV, President of the Provincial Weightlifting Association, Sheeraz Muhammad, stated that the primary objective of organizing the tournament is to offer Peshawar’s weightlifters a structured and competitive environment where they can demonstrate their true potential. He emphasized that the event will play a crucial role in identifying and preparing the best players for the upcoming Under-21 Games, scheduled to begin on February 4.
Sheeraz Muhammad further noted that the District Inter-Club Tournament is being organized with the cooperation of the Regional Sports Officer, Peshawar, which has significantly enhanced the overall quality and standard of the competition. He added that such initiatives are vital for the promotion of weightlifting in the Peshawar region and for strengthening the grassroots structure of the sport.
Expressing optimism, he said that competitive events like this help instill confidence, discipline, and a winning mindset among young athletes, paving the way for the emergence of future national-level weightlifters.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the Provincial Weightlifting Association to continue organizing similar tournaments in the future to promote sports culture and engage youth in healthy and positive activities.
