PESHAWAR: The Peshawar District T20 Cricket Championship (Zone Four) officially commenced at Karnal Sher Khan Cricket Ground, Peshawar, under the auspices of the Peshawar District Cricket Association.

The opening ceremony was graced by Qazi Shafiq, who inaugurated the tournament in the presence of Asghar Khan, President of the Peshawar District Cricket Association, and other prominent officials and cricket enthusiasts.

In the opening match, HS Sports Club registered a convincing five-wicket victory over Abasin Club.

Batting first, Abasin Club managed to post a total of 113 runs in 20 overs. Key contributors included Malik Rohail and Musa Khan, who scored 21 runs each, while Muhammad Sahil added a valuable 30 runs to the tally.

In response, HS Sports Club successfully chased down the target, finishing at 114/5. The standout performer was Saiful Islam, who scored a match-winning 53 runs, supported by Wahab Ahmed with 21 runs.

On the bowling front, Saud Ahmed took two wickets, while Muhammad Arif and Muhammad Sohail also claimed two wickets each, helping restrict Abasin Club to a modest total.

The tournament will continue over the coming days, featuring teams from across Zone Four competing for the district title, showcasing the rising talent in the region.
