PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-Colleges Annual Sports Gala 2025 and Culture Day were celebrated with great enthusiasm at Government Frontier College for Women, Peshawar. The event aimed to promote sports in educational institutions and encourage student participation beyond academics. Students from various colleges participated in a range of sporting events, with Peshawar Zone securing the first position owing to their outstanding performances. The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem. In her welcome address, the principal of Frontier College for Women highlighted the increasing interest of female students in sports, terming it a positive development. She noted that sports not only contribute to physical fitness but also help in nurturing leadership skills among young women. Students excelling in various disciplines were awarded medals, certificates, and trophies in recognition of their achievements. Alongside the sports competitions, Culture Day was also observed, where students set up colourful cultural stalls that were well-received by the attendees. The chief guest on the occasion was Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Higher Education, Mr. Sohail Afridi. Other notable attendees included Provincial Minister Ms. Meena Khan Afridi, Director of Higher Education, and the principal of Frontier College, Ms. Shaheen Umar. Speaking on the occasion, the ministers and other dignitaries praised the efforts of the participating students. They emphasized that students from KP colleges are proving their mettle not just in academics but also in sports. The provincial government, they added, is committed to enhancing sports infrastructure and opportunities for students, especially for female athletes. The speakers further encouraged female students to take an active part in sports, stating that daughters of the nation are shining in every field, including the sports arena. They stressed that sports instil qualities such as discipline, confidence, teamwork, and leadership all essential traits for personal and academic success.
