PESHAWAR: Peshawar Medical College (PMC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Central Institute of Family Medicine (CIFM) to expand access to structured postgraduate training opportunities in Family Medicine and Family Dentistry for medical and dental professionals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The collaboration aims to facilitate quality-assured postgraduate pathways aligned with national regulatory standards and internationally benchmarked training models. Under the agreement, graduates of Peshawar Medical College (PMC) and Peshawar Dental College (PDC), along with teaching faculty and practicing healthcare professionals, will gain facilitated access to multiple programs recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons Pakistan.
These include MCPS (Family Medicine) through the experience-based track, FCPS progression pathways, Family Dentistry qualifications, residency preparation programs, and structured clinical training modules designed to strengthen competency in primary healthcare practice.
The partnership also supports internationally aligned preparation programs aimed at enhancing career mobility for Pakistani graduates seeking opportunities in Canada, the United States, Europe, and Gulf countries through globally benchmarked family medicine training pathways.
Institutional representatives noted that the initiative reflects the growing importance of Family Medicine as a cornerstone specialty supporting primary healthcare delivery and community-based patient care.
Through subsidized access arrangements under the MOU, healthcare professionals from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will benefit from expanded postgraduate academic opportunities without significant geographic or financial barriers.
The collaboration is expected to contribute to workforce development, faculty capacity building, and strengthening of primary care services across the province.
