Haripur: The Prime Minister’s Youth Boxing League in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa concluded successfully at the University of Haripur, with Peshawar Division securing first place, Mardan second, and Swat third.
The closing ceremony was held at the university’s Boxing Arena, graced by Chief Guest Engineer Arif Rawan. He was accompanied by MPA Shazia Jadoon (PML-N), Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Abid Farid, Director Administration Major Muhammad Iqbal, Director Sports Dr. Syed Zia-ul-Islam, and Coach Hasnain Amin. The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the national anthem, followed by the formal introduction of athletes from all participating divisions.
Adding cultural flavor, traditional sports of Haripur including Moongli Gatka and Stone Lifting were showcased. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman welcomed the guests and highlighted the university’s efforts in promoting both academics and sports.
Addressing the gathering, Engineer Arif Rawan said that the Prime Minister’s Youth Program and Higher Education Commission are committed to identifying talented athletes at the grassroots level and providing them with opportunities to excel nationally and internationally. He also noted that initiatives like the Digital Youth Hub are ensuring equal opportunities for both male and female players.
MPA Shazia Jadoon reaffirmed the government’s commitment to mainstreaming youth and nurturing their skills under the Prime Minister’s Youth Program.
