TIMARGARA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed said that police, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), and the Elite Force killed several militants during an intelligence-based operation in the Haidari Kando Top area of Lower Dir.
Speaking to the media during his visit to Dir, the IGP said the militants launched an attack, which was met with a strong and courageous response by the security forces. He confirmed that three police personnel were martyred and several others were injured in the overnight clash. Senior police officers immediately reached the site to supervise the operation.
Zulfiqar Hameed said the police force remains determined and fully committed to eliminating terrorism. He added that the provincial government’s new security strategy is being implemented in Malakand Division and will later be expanded to other affected districts, including Khyber, Orakzai, and Kurram.

The IGP said steps are being taken to enhance the operational capacity of the police through modern training and equipment. More than Rs70 million is being spent this year on modern policing equipment, while significant funds have also been allocated in the current budget to strengthen the force’s operational capabilities.
He further said that authorities are working with the Foreign Office and other relevant institutions to trace extortion calls originating from abroad.
The IGP reaffirmed that the government’s writ remains intact across the province, police morale is high, and terrorists will not be allowed to regain a foothold in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
