Dera Ismail Khan: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) District President Farhan Afzal Malik, who had been detained under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (3 MPO), was released from Haripur Central Jail on Saturday after the approval of surety bonds worth Rs. 200,000 along with two personal sureties.
According to the official release order issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Dera Ismail Khan (Ref No. 1576/DC/L&O(3MPO), dated July 10, 2025), Farhan Afzal Malik S/O Malik Muhammad Afzal (CNIC: 12101-9110295-7), resident of Muslim Abad, DI Khan, has been released with the condition that he shall not be involved in any other criminal case.
Upon receiving the news, a large number of PPP supporters gathered at his residence in Dera Ismail Khan to welcome him. He was showered with rose petals as slogans like “Jiye Bhutto” and “Long Live Democracy” echoed in the surroundings.
Farhan Afzal Malik was earlier arrested for allegedly obstructing an anti-encroachment operation on River Indus Road. His arrest sparked protests from local PPP leaders and workers, who termed the action politically motivated.
After his release, Malik addressed his supporters, thanking his legal counsel Muhammad Abid Awan Advocate (CNIC: 12101-6873284-1, Mobile: 0333-9974624), and the workers for their continuous support. He vowed to continue the struggle for democratic rights and public welfare despite political pressure or arrest.
