PESHAWAR: The PRCS Provincial Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Abid Rehman Marwat, held an important meeting with senior officials of the Embassy of China in Islamabad. During the meeting, he gave a detailed briefing on the ground realities and serious challenges facing by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He told the officials that the people displaced due to the tension in the Pak-Afghan border situation, the increasing burden of families displaced due to unrest in the Tirah Valley and adjoining districts, and the people of the recent flood-affected districts including Buner, Chitral, Shangla and Swat are currently facing severe difficulties. These situations have badly affected the lives of an ordinary citizen, who is waiting for assistance for basic needs like food, health and economic rehabilitation.

The Provincial Secretary emphasized that providing immediate relief to the affected population as well as providing economic stability on a sustainable basis is the need of the hour, so that they can stand on their own feet with dignity.
Mr. Abid Rehman Marwat further said that in the light of the clear instructions of the Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mr. Faisal Karim Kundi, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Branch has made sustainability the central pillar of its strategy. In this context, the provincial secretary also shared a comprehensive and actionable sustainability plan with the delegation of the Chinese Embassy, which aims to promote long-term development initiatives based on humanitarian compassion.

The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere and the parties agreed to further strengthen mutual cooperation and take joint measures for the welfare of the affected communities. This development can prove to be the beginning of a new chapter of humanitarian service, stability and development in the province.
