PESHAWAR: Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Cantonment Board Peshawar decided to nominate focal persons for various bazaars under jurisdiction of the board to address the issues being faced by the trading community on priority basis.

The decision was made during a meeting between SCCI President Junaid Altaf and CEO Cantonment Board Peshawar Chuadhry Babar Hussain here at the chamber house.

Meeting was attended by SCCI Senior Vice President Muhammad Nadeem, former president Riaz Arshad, Haji Muhammad Afzal, Fazal Moqeem Khan and Zahidullah Shinwari, and members of the chamber’s executive committee Ziaul Haq Sarhadi, Shamsur Rahim, Ishfaq Ahmad, Gul Zaman, Aftab Iqbal and Haji Amin Hussain Babar, Hasnain Sheraz, Sumeer Chaudhry, Zakiullah, Monawar Khurshid, Malik Sanaullah, Zahoor Khan, Waqar Ahmad, Rashid Iqbal Siddiqui, Nisar Ahmad and Naeemur Rehman, and SCCI Secretary General Muqtasid Ahsan, presidents and office bearers of Saddar Cantt Bazaar, Shehneri Masjid, Arbab Road, Sekarno Chowk, Shoba Bazaar and others.

President Junaid Altaf in opening remarks highlighted the several commercial and residential issues of Saddar Cantt bazaars, mostly relating to transfer property/mutation, JLR, property tax with exorbitant rate, electricity, traffic, U-turn, encroachment, sanitation, poor cleanliness system, parking, rusted water supply pumps, non-availability of ATM and others, and urged the Cantonment Board Administration to pragmatic steps to resolve the afore-stated issues on priority grounds and to ease the miseries of the traders.

CEO Chaudhry Babar Hussain said, “Cantonment Board Peshawar has always taken steps to improve the convenience and living standards of its citizens, and the aim of this operation is to provide better facilities to the citizens.”

The Senior official suggested the nomination of focal person for various bazaars fall under jurisdiction of the Cantonment Board Peshawar to collectively address the issues being faced by the trading community and residence in the cantt area.

The CEO assured that CBP will take proactive measures to promptly resolve all issues, which came under-discussion during the meeting.
