ISLAMABAD: The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran commemorated the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution with an official ceremony in Islamabad, where President Asif Ali Zardari cut a commemorative cake alongside Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Reza Amiri Moghaddam.
In a formal statement issued on the occasion, the Embassy reaffirmed Iran’s enduring commitment to national sovereignty, scientific progress, and constructive diplomacy despite sustained external pressures. The 1979 Islamic Revolution was described as a historic manifestation of the Iranian people’s collective will—anchored in faith, cultural identity, and the pursuit of self-determination—which led to the establishment of an independent political system based on popular participation and national dignity.
Reflecting on the past 47 years, the statement noted that the Islamic Republic has pursued policies centered on independence, justice, and resistance to external domination. Despite sanctions and coercive measures, Iran has made notable advancements in science and technology by mobilizing domestic expertise and strengthening its human capital base.
In the economic sphere, the Embassy highlighted progress in industrial production, diversification of non-oil exports, and fiscal reforms undertaken in the face of unilateral sanctions and maximum pressure campaigns. These initiatives, it stated, have contributed to building a more resilient and diversified economy. Simultaneously, investments in healthcare, social services, and strategic sectors have enhanced public welfare and self-sufficiency.
On foreign policy, the Islamic Republic reiterated its commitment to balanced and pragmatic engagement, expanding cooperation with neighboring countries, emerging economies, and multilateral institutions. Iran emphasized its role as an independent and responsible actor advocating dialogue, multilateralism, and regional stability.
The statement also addressed Iran’s continued diplomatic engagement in nuclear-related negotiations conducted in good faith, while referring to regional tensions and security challenges. It maintained that diplomacy must be grounded in mutual respect and sovereign equality, stressing that negotiations under threat or coercion cannot yield sustainable outcomes.
Regarding public demonstrations that began on December 28, 2025, the Embassy stated that while initial gatherings were rooted in economic concerns and largely peaceful, they were later infiltrated by violent elements. The Government, it noted, acted with restraint while fulfilling its responsibility to safeguard public order and national security.
Concluding the message, the Embassy paid tribute to Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Revolution, and honored the sacrifices of the nation’s martyrs. It reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s continued adherence to the foundational principles of sovereignty, independence, and constructive international engagement.
