PESHAWAR: Provincial Ombudsperson Rabab Mehdi held an important meeting with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labour, Fazal Shakoor Khan, at his office in Civil Secretariat, Peshawar on Tuesday. During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on the challenges faced by the labour community in the province, particularly women workers, and the need for a comprehensive strategy to address these issues. Rabia Gul, human rights coordinator and deputy director provincial ombudsperson Mohib also attended the meeting. The ombudsperson briefed the labour minister on the performance of provincial ombudsperson and the measures being undertaken to resolve complaints. She emphasized that providing women workers with a safe and enabling environment is the top priority of the government and concerned institutions, so that women can fulfill their professional responsibilities without fear or obstacles. On the occasion, Fazal Shakoor Khan assured the ombudsperson that the labour department is committed to safeguarding the rights of all workers, including women, by taking all possible measures. He added that the present provincial government is taking practical steps to empower the labour force, especially women, through skill development and vocational training programs to help them to achieve economic self-reliance. In the meeting it is said that institutional cooperation, awareness campaigns, and strict legal measures are essential to ensure the protection of not only women workers but the entire labour community
