ABBOTTABAD: Qaiser Khan Memorial Squash Championship has concluded with great pomp and show. DG Galiyat Development Authority Sharukh Ali Khan was the chief guest while Malik Ghulam Murtaza Awan was the guest of honor. He distributed the prizes. After an exciting and thrilling match, Mutayeb defeated Ibrahim Qader 3-1 in the open final of the Squash Championship being held at Jan Sher Khan Squash Complex, Abbottabad under the auspices of the District Squash Association. The score was 9/11:11/9: 11/9:11/8. In the veterans final, Sardar Arif defeated Shahzad Khan 11:9:119:119 to become the champion. In the boys under-ten final, Shah Mir defeated Ubaidullah 2-1 to win the event trophy.
On this occasion, Director of the Tournament, former DG Sports, President District Squash Association Tariq Mahmood presented the Ascent Report, while Secretary Syed Abrar Shah, former Director ADA welcomed the guests. Chief guest DG GDA Sharukh Ali Khan said that the game of squash has earned a great name at the global level and world champions like Roshan Khan, Qamar Zaman Khan, Jan Sher Khan and Jahangir Khan have ruled for decades. He said that there is great talent in squash and it needs to be focused and patronized at the government level. If coaches are appointed for them, the day is not far when the flag of Pakistan in squash will once again be raised high. At the end of the event, beautiful trophies and shields were distributed among the guests and organizers.
