Peshawar: A Quran recitation was organized by the Peshawar Press Club for the eternal peace of senior journalist Anila Shaheen. A large number of senior journalists, including Shamim Shahid, M. Riaz, Kashifuddin Syed, Arshad Aziz Malik, Alamgir Khan, Fareedullah Khan, Saif-ul-Islam Saifi, and Zia-ul-Haq, along with young journalists, attended the ceremony.
After the recitation, special prayers were offered for the forgiveness and elevation of the departed soul. Speakers paid glowing tribute to her outstanding journalistic services. On the occasion, senior and young journalists said that the late Anila Shaheen rendered valuable services for press freedom and maintained exemplary relations with the journalist community. She personally shared in the grief and hardships of fellow journalists on behalf of the union and the press club, a gesture that will always be remembered.
The speakers further stated that she always treated journalists with respect, considering them as her brothers. Many of her students are now actively serving in the field of journalism. She remained associated with the profession until her last breath.
At the conclusion of the Quran recitation held on the lawn of the Press Club, collective prayers were offered for the elevation of her ranks and for strength and patience for her bereaved family to bear this great loss.
