PESHAWAR: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an alert warning of rain and snowfall in Pakistan’s northern areas from January 21 to 24.
According to the alert on Wednesday, there is a risk of flooding in streams and rivers due to rainfall and snowmelt.
The NDMA stated that heavy rain and snowfall in upper regions could lead to a sudden rise in water levels in the Kabul River and its tributaries.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts including Dir, Chitral, Swat, and Kohistan may face flash flood situations, while an increase in the flow of the Kabul River is also expected in low-lying areas of Nowshera and near Tarbela Dam.
Provincial and district administrations have been placed on high alert and the public has been advised to take precautionary measures. Citizens are urged to avoid unnecessary travel near streams, rivers, low-lying areas and other vulnerable locations.v
