Rawalpindi:Recognized writer and director Ms. Asma Butt said that respect for institutions should be maintained, Rawalpindi Arts Council should be limited to artistic activities, and political interference should be banned in them. Artists are ambassadors of peace, they want to promote their art work in a peaceful environment. Don’t let them down.
She said this during an important meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader and Senator Nasir Mahmood Butt. Where issues related to artists facing political pressure were discussed in the Rawalpindi Arts Council and said that cultural activities are being stopped in the Rawalpindi Arts Council.Asma Butt said that Institutions related to artists should be freed from political interference. She said that an artist is an ambassador of peace. We are already facing anti-national elements. In such situations, there is a dire need to further warm the people’s love for the country through drama and maintain a peaceful environment. She said that the former director of the Rawalpindi Arts Council was transferred only because he had acknowledged the violation of rights of artists. Asma Butt said that Pakistani army defended the borders of Pakistan is unparalleled. We are proud of our forces. The artist community has always raised the morale of the Pakistan Army in the difficult circumstances of the country. Therefore, their activities should be continued. Artists of the twin cities appeal to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Ms. Maryam Nawaz, to open the Rawalpindi Arts Council for artists without discrimination. On this, Senator Nasir Mahmood Butt said that Asma Butt’s artistic services are not hidden from anyone. She has been serving the country for the promotion of art and culture for the last thirty years. We should all recognize her artistic services.
