Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: On the sixth Years of India’s illegal and unilateral revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Rubina Khalid, has strongly condemned New Delhi’s actions and reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people.

“Today marks six years since India’s unconstitutional move to alter the disputed status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” said Rubina Khalid. “This action was designed to weaken the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination and alter the region’s demographic and political identity.”

Khalid highlighted that since August 5, 2019, India has imposed harsh measures in the region, including:
•Arbitrary delimitation of constituencies
•Inclusion of non-Kashmiris in voter rolls
•Granting of domicile to outsiders
•Suppression of local media
•Mass arrests, sieges, and intimidation tactics

“These steps are a blatant attempt to disempower Kashmiris in their own homeland,” she stated. “India’s strategy includes silencing voices, controlling narratives, and denying basic freedoms.”

Rubina Khalid emphasized that the Kashmiri people have been consistently deprived of their inalienable right to self-determination, a right enshrined in United Nations Security Council resolutions.

She further remarked, “This year’s Istihsal Day carries even more significance amid continued Indian aggression. Yet, the resilience of the Kashmiri people remains unshaken. The recent success of Operation Banyan Al-Marsoos is a source of immense pride for the people of Pakistan.”

Chairperson Rubina Khalid reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring commitment:
“Pakistan will continue to extend its political, diplomatic, and moral support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir until they achieve their legitimate rights and justice is served.”
