The second death anniversary of Shaheed Rehan Zaib Khan was observed with deep reverence and respect at the Civil Colony Jirga Hall in Khar, the headquarters of Bajaur. In this connection, a dignified and well-attended ceremony was held, in which the martyr’s younger brother, political successor, State Minister and Member of the National Assembly, Mubarak Zaib Khan, participated as the chief guest. Leaders of various political parties, tribal elders of Bajaur, members of RZK, and a large number of citizens attended the event.
At the outset of the ceremony, rich tributes were paid to the services and sacrifices of Shaheed Rehan Zaib Khan, and prayers were offered for the elevation of his ranks. On the occasion, ANP leaders Sheikh Jahanzada, Fazal Manan, Chairman Zahoor Khan, along with other speakers, addressed the gathering. The speakers described the martyr as a principled, people-friendly and fearless leader, stating that his martyrdom was an irreparable loss for Bajaur.
Addressing the ceremony, the chief guest, Minister Mubarak Zaib Khan, said that the lesson of public service given by Shaheed Rehan Zaib Khan was his true identity, and that they would continue this mission under all circumstances. He said, “My identity is Shaheed Rehan Zaib Khan. Whether I hold an office or not, the service of Bajaur will continue.”
Minister Mubarak Zaib Khan announced that all formalities for the establishment of Shaheed Rehan Zaib College in Salarzai have been completed and the college will soon be set up there, as the area is in dire need of a college. He further informed that five buses for colleges in Bajaur will be provided in the month of February, while the area has received a fund of Rs. 500 million, which will be utilized for public welfare through the chairmen.
He said that it is also part of their plan to construct a gate in the name of Shaheed Maulana Khan Zaib at the Nawagai Darbano location, and another gate in Munda in the name of Shaheed Rehan Zaib Khan. Minister Mubarak Zaib Khan stated that the nation has placed its trust in him, and wherever the benefit of his people lies, he will go there. He also informed that Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif will soon visit Bajaur.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, participants reaffirmed their resolve to keep alive the mission of Shaheed Rehan Zaib Khan and to continue their struggle for development, peace, and the rights of the people of the region.
