PESHAWAR: Senior members of the Islamia College Peshawar Alumni Association, led by Baba-e-Islamia College and association president Muhammad Zaman Khan, on Sunday voiced strong opposition to the administration’s decision to lease part of the college’s land, reportedly for the construction of a commercial plaza.

The meeting, attended by Arbab Azhar, Prof Mujeeb, Fazal Qadeem and others, termed the move detrimental to the institution’s heritage. Participants said Islamia College was a historic landmark and that financial challenges should be addressed through alternative means, such as securing government grants or launching revenue-generating courses, instead of selling or leasing property.

Khan said every effort would be made to protect the sanctity and historical value of the college.
