282nd Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai Opens with Cultural Festivities

KARACHI: The 282nd Urs of Sufi saint and poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (R.A.) commenced today with a Fateha and the laying of a ceremonial shawl at the saint’s shrine by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Sindh Minister for Culture Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah.

Speaking to the media, Governor Kundi highlighted Pakistan’s history of resilience against Indian aggression, its diplomatic support for the Kashmiri cause, and the unity of the nation during times of conflict. He said the PTI’s political narrative had been rejected by the public, adding that security forces, police, and citizens must unite to eliminate terrorism and punish those attacking state institutions.

Minister Zulfiqar Ali Shah emphasized Shah Latif’s message of peace, women’s rights, and unity, noting the Urs coincides with Independence Day celebrations. Tomorrow, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti is expected to attend the ceremonies.

Governor Kundi also visited the newly inaugurated Cultural Village at Shah Jo Bagh, toured handicraft stalls, enjoyed Shah’s music, distributed clothes among underprivileged women, and participated in folk music activities. Local officials, including Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Yousuf Sheikh and SSP Ijaz Memon, accompanied the dignitaries.
