BANGKOK: Ayub Khan Yousafzai, a Thai national of Pakistani origin from Swabi, has been elected as a Member of Thailand’s National Assembly following a landslide victory in today’s parliamentary elections.
According to family sources, Mr. Khan previously served as chief administrator of Thai Tapsake District. His father, Tawab Khan, was also a parliamentarian and served as a special adviser to the King of Thailand. The family is prominent in Thai politics: Tawab Khan’s daughter, Maria Pathan, currently serves as a senator, while nephews Malik Bakhtiar Khan and Malik Imtiaz Khan hold key positions in the Pakistani community and business sector.
Several family members from Union Council Adeena, Mohibullah Banda, Swabi, occupy important political and official roles in Thailand.
