Karachi: Sindh Police Sports Board in collaboration with Born2Run Pakistan organised Shuhada Run in Karachi to commemorate Police Martyrs’ Day. More than 5,000 participants took part in the run. Shuhada Run 2026 was held simultaneously in 12 cities across Pakistan, reflecting a nationwide tribute to the sacrifices of police martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, IGP Sindh Javed Alam Odho said the Sindh Police had rendered unparalleled sacrifices in safeguarding the province with more than 2,000 officers and personnel embracing martyrdom in the line of duty. “Shuhada Run is a practical expression of our commitment to honouring our martyrs.This is the third consecutive year that the event has been organised, and I am delighted to see more than 5,000 citizens participating in this year’s Shuhada run.
Sindh Police would never hesitate to make any sacrifice for the security of the country, the province and its people. He stressed that promoting sports and healthy activities among young people was essential to steering them away from crime and drug abuse. “We must continue encouraging sports, running and other positive pursuits among our youth. The fight against narcotics cannot be won by law enforcement alone the society must stand alongside the police in eliminating this menace,” he said.
Highlighting the force’s anti-narcotics campaign, the IGP said that compared to the previous year, more than 750 narcotics cases had been registered while nearly 850 suspects involved in drug trafficking and drug-related offences had been arrested.
While speaking at the shuhada run, Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan said the sacrifices of police martyrs would forever remain a source of inspiration for the force. “Our martyrs are our guiding light, we renew our pledge to carry forward their mission with the same courage. Sindh Police will continue to honour its martyrs and stand beside their families, Shuhada Run reflects our unwavering resolve that their sacrifices will never be forgotten,” he said.
The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony recognising the outstanding performances of participants in both the men’s and women’s categories. Winners of the first position received Rs100,000 each while the runners-up were awarded Rs75,000 each and the third-place finishers received Rs50,000 each.
