CHARSADDA: The Electronic Media Association (EMA) and the Working Union of Journalists (WUJ) have formally announced their merger with the historic Mohmandzai Union of Journalists (MUJ) in Charsadda. On this occasion, members expressed full confidence in the leadership of Chairman Haji Faiz Muhammad.
This breakthrough comes after several weeks of consultations, meetings, and deliberations led by senior journalists including Qaiser Mahmood, CEO of Charsadda News and Tadeel newspaper, along with noted journalist Zahidullah Khan. Their tireless efforts paved the way for consensus among key office-bearers including Working Union of Journalists President Alf Khan Sherpao, General Secretary Mahboob Ali, Haji Faiz Muhammad, Zahid Khan and others.
With a legacy spanning more than 40 years, the Mohmandzai Union of Journalists is regarded as one of the oldest and most credible media organizations in Charsadda. Over the decades, it has played a vital role in highlighting public grievances, raising its voice against social injustices, and promoting professional journalistic values.
The merger means that instead of three separate journalist bodies, Charsadda will now have a single, united, and stronger platform. This development is expected to strengthen the voice of the journalist community and provide convenience to the public, political parties, and government departments, who can now directly approach the Mohmandzai Union of Journalists for press coverage, events, and conferences.
According to sources, citizens will now be able to channel their concerns and issues directly through Gul Karam News Agency or any representative of the Union, ensuring immediate coverage by local journalists.
Speaking at the event, participants reaffirmed their commitment to using the Mohmandzai Union of Journalists’ platform to highlight the problems of Charsadda’s people, address social inequalities, and critically examine government policies. They emphasized that this merger will not only strengthen the journalist fraternity but also provide the public with a more organized and effective media body.
