PESHAWAR: The U.S. Consulate General in Peshawar has welcomed Tom Eckert as the new Consul General. Eckert, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, joined the U.S. State Department in 2003 and has extensive diplomatic experience, including two tours in Baghdad, Iraq, and postings in Afghanistan, Gabon, Vietnam, Burma, and most recently Cyprus, where he served as Senior Regional Security Officer and temporary Chargé d’Affaires.

Consul General Eckert expressed his enthusiasm to work closely with officials, entrepreneurs, students, and community leaders across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to strengthen partnerships and foster economic opportunities. He is also eager to explore the province’s rich cultural heritage and renowned cuisine.

The Consulate invites the community to share their thoughts on what makes Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the U.S.-Pakistan relationship special.
