Dera Ismail Khan: Toxic waste discharged from the distillery unit of Chashma Sugar Mills ii in Parova Tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan reportedly led to the death of two cattle In a disturbing environmental incident on Saturday.

A resident of the area, Zafar’s son of Ghulamoo, lodged a complaint at the Parova Police Station stating that a pipeline connected to the distillery plant ruptured, releasing toxic water into the open, which his cattle drank and died on the spot.

Locals allege that untreated effluents from the plant are being directly discharged into the Indus River through pipelines, posing severe risks to both human life and the environment.

It is pertinent to mention that in 2013, a similar incident linked to the same plant resulted in the deaths of seven people due to poisonous gas emissions.

Residents have expressed deep concern and urged the environment department and district administration to take immediate action against the continued violation of environmental laws to prevent further damage to life and nature.
