Special Ceremony Held in Peshawar on World Population Day

PESHAWAR: A special ceremony was organized by the Population Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in connection with World Population Day. Director General of Population Welfare Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rehan Gul Khattak, attended the event as the chief guest and addressed the participants.

Also present at the event were District Population Welfare Officer Peshawar Samiullah Khan Khalil, Dr. Syed Khadam Ali Shah, Arshad Hanif, and Gohar Zaman.

While addressing the ceremony, DG Rehan Gul Khattak said that the purpose of World Population Day is to raise awareness among the public about population-related issues, challenges, and their solutions. He stated that the unchecked population growth is leading to resource shortages, environmental pollution, and immense pressure on the healthcare and education systems.

To counter this, family planning, education, and public awareness are essential. He further added that the Population Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is actively running awareness campaigns, providing reproductive health services, and operating guidance programs for youth throughout the province to build a prosperous, healthy, and developed society.

Speakers including Syed Khadam Ali Shah, Arshad Hanif, and Gohar Zaman also addressed the event.

District Population Welfare Officer Peshawar, Samiullah Khan Khalil, while speaking at the ceremony, emphasized that the message of “Fewer Children, Prosperous Life” needs to reach every household. He stressed the importance of family planning and said the department is working tirelessly at the grassroots level to provide services to the public.

At the end of the ceremony, an awareness walk was organized, and shields and certificates were distributed among the guests.
