PESHAWAR: Ms. Hafiza Aqsa Ameen, an M.Phil. scholar at the Department of Food & Nutrition Sciences, University of Peshawar, successfully defended her thesis titled “The Impact of Early Enteral Nutrition and Its Outcomes Among Critically Ill Patients: RIMS Trauma Hospital, Karachi,” under the supervision of Dr. Fazia Ghaffar.

The research examined the benefits of early enteral nutrition for critically ill patients, highlighting its role in improving recovery, reducing complications, and strengthening evidence-based critical care nutrition practices.

The thesis was examined by Dr. Ijaz Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Department of Human Nutrition & Public Health, The University of Haripur, under the academic supervision of Prof. Dr. Shazia Ghulam Muhammad, Principal, College of Home Economics, University of Peshawar.

Ms. Aqsa also secured first position in the oral presentation category at the 3rd International PNDS Conference, where participants from six disciplines competed. Her award-winning presentation was based on findings from her M.Phil. research.

In recognition of her academic excellence, Prof. Dr. Shazia Ghulam Muhammad presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation. The thesis presentation was attended by faculty members, postgraduate scholars, and undergraduate students, who appreciated the research and actively participated in the discussion.

Ms. Hafiza Aqsa Ameen is also the first postgraduate scholar in Food and Nutrition Sciences at the University of Peshawar to belong to Sindh.
