KARACHI: Consul General Scott Urbom joined rising athletes at the National Junior and Womenโ€™s Squash Championship in Karachi, hosted by the Sindh Squash Association with support from the American Business Council of Pakistan. As Chief Guest, he met players, coaches, and families, and spoke about the strong tradition of squash in Pakistan and the shared values that sports build across borders.

CG Urbom praised the achievements of legends like Jahangir Khan, who was also present at the event, and expressed hope that a new generation of champions is on the rise. He also spoke about the inclusion of squash and cricket in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angelesโ€”a moment of pride for the United Statesโ€”and the power of sports to empower young women and strengthen communities.

The Consul General noted how sports open doors. โ€œMy daughters played football, rugby, and wrestling. That experience helped shape their confidenceโ€”and I hope the same for the young players here.โ€

U.S. support for sports diplomacy continues to grow as we move toward America250 and the LA28 Games. Karachiโ€™s role in this journey matters.
