PESHAWAR: District Sports Officer of Bajaur, Rahid Gul Malagori, has vowed to promote sports at the grassroots level by providing better opportunities to the youth. In a recent exclusive interview, he said that ensuring healthy activities for young people is his top priority and practical steps are being taken at every level to achieve this goal.

Malagori emphasized that young people deserve access to quality sports facilities, and the district administration is fully committed to identifying and nurturing talent from the grassroots. “Our energy and efforts are focused on developing sports infrastructure across Bajaur, including the existing Bajaur Sports Complex and Mamond Ground, with plans to build additional sports facilities in other areas,” he stated.

He further noted that steps are already underway to modernize and activate the Bajaur Sports Complex. “We’re not just expanding facilities for athletes but also creating walking tracks for citizens of all ages. Membership cards will be introduced to provide organized access to these facilities,” he added.

According to Rahid Gul Malagori, the Bajaur Sports Complex already hosts a wide range of facilities, including a quality hostel, cricket and football grounds, hockey turf, a gymnasium, badminton courts, table tennis, and other indoor games. In Mamond, a fully developed cricket and football ground has also been completed to ensure that local youth can participate in sports with ease.

He expressed his commitment to constructing more sports grounds in other parts of the district to ensure youth have access to recreational facilities close to home. “We understand how important healthy activities are for the youth. That’s why we are bringing sports to their doorstep,” he said.

Malagori also shared that he was appointed in Bajaur only three months ago, but within this short span, several local-level sports competitions have already been held, and the scope is continuously expanding. He praised Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan for his unwavering support, stating, “Under his leadership, the encouragement given to sports is nothing short of a blessing. With a sports-loving officer like Shahid Ali Khan at the helm, we will, God willing, organize numerous sports events across Bajaur.”

Reiterating his resolve, Malagori said, “Promoting healthy activities among youth remains my top priority. We want to see our talented young athletes represent Pakistan at national and international levels, and this can only happen when they are provided with high-quality sports facilities from an early age.”
