PESHAWAR: In the remote village of kingargali, a group of young volunteers has once again stepped up to fight climate change in their own way. Just like last year, they have taken the initiative to plant 10,000 trees completely on their own without any government assistance or support from NGOs.

These passionate volunteers are planting saplings along roadsides, across the surrounding hills, and in open spaces around the village. Their goal isn’t just to green the land, but to protect their local environment, which has suffered greatly in recent years. Forest fires have destroyed hundreds of trees in the nearby mountains, and tree-cutting for firewood and daily needs has further reduced the area’s greenery.

To combat this, the youth rely on their own savings and small donations from community members. They purchase plants from local nurseries and spend their days digging, planting, and watering working from morning till evening, not for money, but for the love of nature and their homeland.

What makes this year’s effort even more remarkable is the growing support from the village. More youth have joined the campaign, and even elders are now stepping forward to help. This collective participation shows how environmental awareness and unity are spreading in kingargali Gali.

One of the volunteers said, We are not just planting trees. We are planting hope. We want our children to breathe clean air and grow up in a green village.

The story of these young green warriors is a powerful example of how small communities with limited means can make a meaningful impact. Their dedication sends a quiet but strong message: if a village lik kingargali can act, so can the rest of us.
