Swat: Zebun-e-Nisa, a member of the former Wali Swat family, staged a protest during Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi’s public rally in Swat on January 25, 2026, raising concerns over alleged injustice and suppression of public voices in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, Zebun-e-Nisa clarified that she was not affiliated with any political party and had come forward solely as the voice of oppressed citizens. She stated that her protest was aimed at highlighting long-standing grievances faced by the people of Swat.

She alleged that the family residence of the former Wali of Swat had been illegally occupied by former PTI MPA Fazal Hakeem, and claimed that despite repeatedly informing the provincial government, no action had been taken so far.

Recalling the past, Zebun-e-Nisa said that Swat was once known as a model of peace, justice, and transparent governance, where even minor issues were addressed promptly. She lamented that the situation had now reversed, with corrupt and influential elements gaining unchecked power, making the lives of ordinary citizens increasingly difficult.

The protest took place amid tight security arrangements, with a heavy police presence deployed across the city due to the expected visit of the chief minister. The rally and protest were conducted under strict surveillance, creating what observers described as an atmosphere of siege.

According to participants, the incident has further strengthened the perception that public dissent and legitimate voices are being deliberately suppressed in Swat.
