Peshawar: The 4th Qamar Zaman All Pakistan National Junior Squash Championship has commenced under the auspices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Squash Association, in collaboration with Extreme Lab. Players from across the country are participating, with boys competing in the Under-11, U-13 and U-17 categories while girls are taking part in the Under-19 category.

The championship was inaugurated by Senior Vice President of the Squash Association, Ihsanullah. The opening ceremony was also attended by former World Champion Qamar Zaman, former World No. 2 Mohibullah Khan, Squash Association Secretary Mansoor Zaman, Executive Member Sher Bahadur, Chief Organizer Manwar Zaman, Pakistan Squash Federation Director Academy Irfan Asghar and Nauman.

During the ceremony, tribute was paid to the late Joint Secretary of the Squash Association, Sajjad Khalil, in recognition of his services. A prayer was also offered for the peace of his soul.

On the opening day, in the Under-11 category, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Muhammad Moaz Khan defeated Mustafa Mubashir (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) 9-11, 11-6, 11-8, while PAF’s Anas Rafiq beat Naeem (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) 11-3, 11-6.

In the Under-13 category, Punjab’s Mustafa Khan defeated M. Ayan Gul 11-3, 11-7.

In the Under-17 category, PAF’s Yahya Asad overcame Punjab’s Sufyan Shahid 11-3, 11-6, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Saifullah Bahadur defeated Abdul Hadi Gul 11-2, 11-7.

In the Girls Under-19 category, WAPDA’s Mehwish Ali beat Rehab 11-3, 11-7, while Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Sehrish Ali defeated Wajeeha Altaf 11-3, 11-9.
