CHARSADDA: Adviser to the Chief Minister on Information, Shafi Jan, during his visit to Charsadda, announced the formation of a committee to resolve the ongoing dispute at the Charsadda Press Club. He made the announcement while addressing the media and later held a detailed meeting with members of the Press Club to listen to their concerns.
Shafi Jan stated that the provincial government, led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was established through public mandate and is fully committed to public welfare. He said the government represents the will of the people and is working to address their issues on a priority basis.
Regarding the Press Club matter, he said a formal committee would soon be constituted to hear all stakeholders and make decisions in accordance with merit and the club’s by-laws. He assured that anyone eligible for membership under the by-laws would be granted their rightful membership.
Speaking about the health sector, the Adviser said the provincial government has initiated major reforms to improve healthcare services across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He announced that a new 5,000-bed state-of-the-art hospital is being planned in Peshawar, while 1,000-bed hospitals are also under construction in Malakand and Kohat. He added that improvements in existing hospitals would soon be visible.
He said the government is working to address shortages of key facilities such as MRI machines, CT scan services, trauma centers, and cath labs in several districts, including Kohat and Charsadda. He claimed that a record budget has been allocated for the health sector, significantly higher than previous years.
Responding to a question about the party’s political activities, Shafi Jan said a new container has been prepared after the previous one was allegedly set on fire at D-Chowk on November 26. He said PTI leadership could use the new container at any time.
On the matter of Imran Khan, he said that Advocate Salman Safdar met the former prime minister as a “Friend of the Court” for approximately two and a half hours, and a report of the meeting has been submitted to the court. He expressed concern over Imran Khan’s health and said that keeping him in isolation and restricting access to his personal doctor was alarming.
Addressing the law and order situation, Shafi Jan termed it the biggest challenge for the provincial government and said the Chief Minister is personally monitoring the situation. He reiterated that PTI does not support any military operation imposed without taking the provincial government into confidence and called for a comprehensive national policy formulated jointly by the federation, provinces, and security institutions to combat terrorism.
He concluded by saying that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cannot bear further instability and displacement, and the government is committed to restoring lasting peace in the province.
