Bajaur: The district administration in Bajaur has launched a crackdown against overpricing, hoarding, and alleged profiteering in LPG and agricultural stores, sealing four LPG shops during the operation. The action was taken on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner Bajaur.
Assistant Commissioner (Headquarters) Khar, Dr. Sadiq Ali, along with AAC Khar Dr. Adil and other relevant officials, conducted surprise inspections of various LPG outlets and agricultural stores. During the inspections, four retailers and dealers were sealed for violating OGRA’s notified rates and failing to comply with government regulations.
According to the administration, some shopkeepers were selling LPG at prices higher than the officially fixed rates, putting an additional financial burden on consumers. The purpose of the operation is to control prices and provide relief to the general public.
In this regard, an important meeting was also held at the DC Conference Hall under the chairmanship of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General). The meeting was attended by the Assistant Commissioner (HQ) Khar, AAC Nawagai, LPG plant managers, dealers, and distributors. Participants were directed to present receipts, vouchers, stock registers, and other relevant records and to ensure LPG sales in accordance with OGRA policy.
The district administration has warned that if artificial price hikes or hoarding continue, strict legal action will be taken not only against more shops but also against the relevant plants and distributors. Citizens have appreciated the administration’s move and urged authorities to establish a permanent monitoring mechanism to ensure long-term price stability and public relief.
