KARACHI: Inspector General of Sindh Police chaired a high-level meeting to review the overall law and order and security situation in Karachi amid evolving regional security dynamics.

The meeting undertook a detailed assessment of intelligence reports received in the wake of the extraordinary cross-border situation. Officials examined potential threats and vulnerabilities, while deliberating on a comprehensive and proactive strategy to effectively counter any emerging risks.

Security arrangements for sensitive public and private installations, as well as other key locations, were reviewed extensively. The Additional IG Karachi informed the forum that comprehensive SOPs have been devised in light of intelligence inputs to ensure effective implementation down to the police station level.

Highlighting concerns over possible terrorist threats, the Additional IG, Counter Terrorism Department, emphasised the need to further secure the province’s entry and exit points to prevent any untoward incidents.

IG Sindh directed that Quick Response Force (QRF) units in every district of Karachi remain on high alert at all times. He ordered that checking mechanisms at all entry and exit points of the city be further strengthened and made more effective.

Emphasising coordinated efforts, the IGP said that the CTD and Special Branch must ensure timely and actionable intelligence sharing with district police. He instructed all officers to personally review security arrangements at sensitive installations and important locations. He further directed that general hold-ups and snap checking be conducted twice daily without exception Also instructed senior officers to personally visit the field to monitor security measures and ensure strict compliance with directives.
