Islamabad: A delegation of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Gems and Jewellery Association met Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev at the Russian Embassy in Islamabad to discuss ways to strengthen trade relations between Pakistan, particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Russia in the precious and semi-precious stones and jewellery sectors.

The meeting focused on promoting bilateral trade, participation in international exhibitions, and expanding business-to-business contacts. The delegation, led by Association President Salman Niazi, included General Secretary Haji Naushad Ahmad Chishti, Muhammad Adnan, and Zain-ul-Abideen.

During the meeting, the participation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa traders in international gems and jewellery exhibitions to be held in Russia was discussed. Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev assured the delegation of his cooperation in facilitating visas and other trade-related facilities for Pakistani businesspeople to participate in these exhibitions.

Head of the delegation Salman Niazi invited Russian business organisations and buyers to participate in gems and jewellery exhibitions being organised in Pakistan. Both sides also agreed to explore arrangements for direct business-to-business (B2B) meetings between Pakistani and Russian traders.

Salman Niazi said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is rich in natural deposits of rare and precious gemstones, including emeralds, rubies and peridot, while Russia represents a major international market for this sector. He said that direct business links between traders of the two countries would open new avenues of trade for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s business community and strengthen Pakistan’s exports and economy.

Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev appreciated the delegation’s business vision and assured the association of the Russian Embassy’s full cooperation in further strengthening business ties between the business communities of the two countries.
