BANGKOK: Ms. Saadia Altaf Qazi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, attended The Standard Economic Forum 2026, held under the theme “Reinvent Thailand” at Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon.

The high-level forum brought together senior Thai policymakers, business leaders, and international experts to discuss Thailand’s economic trajectory, emerging opportunities, and strategies for sustainable growth and greater global competitiveness. Keynote addresses were delivered by Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister of Thailand, and Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister.

Prime Minister Anutin outlined a four-pillar “Reinvent Thailand” agenda focused on energy security, new growth engines (including semiconductors, data centres, AI, modern agriculture and food technology), human capital development, and a more constructive political environment. The Finance Minister presented reform priorities, including the “STI DEE” framework emphasising fiscal stability, disclosure, ease of doing business, and efficiency, with the Finance Ministry serving as a prototype for wider government reform.

Ambassador Qazi’s participation formed part of Pakistan’s active economic diplomacy in Thailand. The two countries are marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026, and both sides have reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in trade, investment, skills development, education, and people-to-people exchanges.

The forum provided a timely platform for the Ambassador to engage with Thailand’s top economic leadership and international stakeholders as both countries look to deepen practical collaboration in an evolving regional economic landscape.
