TP REPORT
PESHAWAR : The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert forecasting rain, strong winds, and thunderstorms in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from March 25 to 30. All district administrations have been directed to take precautionary measures in view of the expected weather conditions.
According to PDMA, a westerly weather system is likely to enter the province on the night of March 24 and persist until March 31. Under its influence, rain and snowfall in mountainous regions are expected in districts including Swat, Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Mansehra, and Abbottabad.
In the plains, including Peshawar, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Kurram, and Waziristan, rain accompanied by strong winds is also likely. Intermittent heavy rainfall is expected across the province from March 28 to 30, with chances of hailstorms at isolated locations.
PDMA has warned that heavy rains may cause local rivers and canals to overflow, posing a risk of flash floods. Landslides are also feared in hilly areas, and tourists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel. Strong winds and lightning may damage weak structures, electricity poles, and solar panels.
The authority has instructed district administrations to remain on high alert and ensure all necessary preventive measures. Emergency services, including Rescue 1122, have been directed to stay prepared to respond to any situation.
Citizens are advised to remain cautious, stay in safe places during adverse weather, and report any emergency to PDMA’s helpline (1700). The PDMA Emergency Operation Center is fully operational.
