BHIMBER: Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON, Amir Muqam visited the under-construction Danish School project in Bhimber, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and expressed satisfaction over the pace and quality of the ongoing construction work.
Speaking on the occasion, the Federal Minister said the project reflects Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s special commitment and affection for the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
“This is a moment of pride for us that the Danish School project is taking practical shape. It is the fulfillment of a dream and a promise to provide opportunities for the underprivileged,” he said.
Amir Muqam added that the project represents the vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to promote quality and equal education for all segments of society. He further stated that the concept of Danish Schools was first introduced by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif during his tenure as Chief Minister of Punjab to provide equal educational opportunities to children from deprived and underprivileged backgrounds.
The Federal Minister said the government’s education policy is based on the principles of inclusion and high-quality education, adding that the Bhimber Danish School would emerge as a prominent center of academic excellence in the future.
According to officials of the Danish School System, the project is expected to be completed within the next three months. Amir Muqam expressed hope that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif would inaugurate the project upon completion.
The Federal Minister also praised the outstanding services of the Pakistan Armed Forces for the country, particularly appreciating their courageous role in “Marka-e-Haq.” He said the historic success had significantly enhanced Pakistan’s prestige at the international level and earned the country respect around the world.
After a briefing by Danish School Project Director Haroon Das, former Senior Minister of the Azad Kashmir government, Tariq Farooq thanked the Federal Minister and appreciated the vision of Nawaz Sharif and Shehbaz Sharif regarding the project.
He termed the project a welcome initiative but pointed out public concerns regarding possible flooding from the Bhimber Nullah and Nullah Kas Chanatar. He recalled that Bhimber was severely affected by a major flood in 1992.
Responding to these concerns, Amir Muqam assured that all public reservations and safety concerns would be addressed.
Earlier, upon arrival at the PWD Rest House, former Senior Minister and President of PML-N Azad Kashmir Shah Ghulam Qadir, Secretary General Tariq Farooq, former Senior Minister Malik Muhammad Nawaz, former Minister Chaudhry Muhammad Rukhsar and other party leaders welcomed the Federal Minister and discussed various matters with him.
During the visit, office-bearers and workers of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) from Mirpur and Bhimber districts warmly received the Federal Minister.
