SWABI: A modern state-of-the-art diagnostic laboratory has been inaugurated at Bacha Khan Medical Complex (BKMC)-MTI Swabi, marking a significant step towards strengthening healthcare services in the district and surrounding areas.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the newly established laboratory above the New Emergency Department. Former Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Provincial Minister for Labour Faisal Khan Tarakai jointly inaugurated the facility by cutting the ribbon.
The event was attended by UNICEF Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Team Lead Dr. Inamullah, Member Board of Governors MTI Swabi Dr. Tufail Muhammad, hospital administration officials, and other distinguished guests.
Hospital Director Dr. Khalid Masud briefed the delegation on the laboratory’s facilities and services. He said the laboratory is equipped with modern diagnostic technologies and will provide a comprehensive range of tests, including microbiology, hematology, histopathology, TB culture, and other advanced diagnostic services.
Following the inauguration, the guests visited various sections of the laboratory where Head of the Pathology Department, Prof. Dr. Nazish Babar, and her team highlighted the facility’s advanced features and diagnostic capabilities.
According to the hospital administration, the laboratory was established with funding provided by former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser at a cost of Rs60 million. The facility is expected to benefit not only the residents of Swabi but also patients from neighboring districts.
The laboratory operates on a solar energy system to ensure uninterrupted services and includes a fully functional blood bank, automated analyzers, microbiology facilities, and qualified technical staff.
Officials also announced plans to establish sample collection points in different areas to improve access for patients. Additional advanced services, including Hb electrophoresis, bone marrow examinations, TB culture, histopathology, and total laboratory automation, will be introduced in the near future.
Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Khan Tarakai and Asad Qaiser assured the hospital administration of their continued support for enhancing healthcare facilities and improving medical services for the public.
