Karachi: In a significant step toward technology-driven policing, Karachi Police Chief Azad Khan inaugurated a state of the art Command and Control Centre equipped with 105 surveillance cameras at Gulshan-e-Maymar Police Station. The facility has been established with the support of Community Policing Karachi (CPK) and is aimed at enhancing public safety through real-time monitoring and crime prevention.

During a briefing at the inauguration ceremony, CPK Chairman Murad Ali Soni said that Command and Control Centres have already been established in 18 police stations across Karachi, with Gulshan-e-Maymar becoming the 19th station to join the growing smart policing network. The newly operational centre is connected to 105 cameras, including 10 high-zoom PTZ cameras, 27 high-resolution ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras and 68 CCTV surveillance cameras. The integrated system will provide round the clock monitoring of key locations within the station’s jurisdiction, enabling quicker response times and improved situational awareness.

Speaking on the occasion, Karachi Police Chief thanked the CPK team for its continued support and emphasized the importance of modern technology and community partnership in strengthening law enforcement. He noted that the installation of advanced surveillance infrastructure would play a vital role in both crime prevention and criminal detection.

The AIG also highlighted recent improvements in Karachi’s law and order situation, stating that overall crime rates, including street crime incidents, have shown a noticeable decline. He added that operations against narcotics and the illegal sale of gutka and mawa have been intensified, while special initiatives are being implemented to curb drug use within educational institutions.
