ABBOTTABAD : Senior Puisne Judge of the Peshawar High Court, Justice Ijaz Anwar, has said that lawyers are the true custodians of the Constitution and that a strong partnership between the Bar and the Bench is essential for judicial independence, the rule of law, and effective administration of justice.

Addressing a reception hosted in his honour by the High Court Bar Association, Abbottabad Bench, Justice Anwar stressed the need to provide lawyers with modern facilities and research opportunities. He assured the legal fraternity of the judiciary’s full support in this regard.

The event was attended by Justices Mudassir Aamer and Aurangzeb, office-bearers of bar associations from Hazara Division, senior lawyers, judicial officers, and law officers.

High Court Bar Abbottabad Bench President Khurram Ghayas highlighted issues faced by lawyers and sought the provision of computers for the Law Lab, access to online legal databases, and installation of a water filtration plant and solar energy system.

Later, the judges inaugurated the Bar’s newly established digital library and reviewed its facilities. Justice Anwar assured lawyers that their concerns would be addressed and said ongoing development projects, including the Bar Room, would be completed within the next two months.

Lawyers welcomed the assurances and reaffirmed that mutual respect and cooperation between the Bar and the Bench are key to judicial independence and the supremacy of law.
