PROVINCE REPORT

ABBOTTABAD: Chairperson of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Commission on the Status of Women (KPCSW), Dr. Sumera Shams, accompanied by KPCSW Board Member and MPA Rehana Ismail, visited the Samarkatta Girls Schools in Abbottabad on the special invitation of MPA Amna Sardar, a member of the KPCSW Education Committee.

The monitoring visit highlighted the remarkable achievements of the school, which has attained a 100 percent literacy rate despite being located in a remote rural area. The school was presented as a successful example of how community participation and institutional collaboration can transform girls’ education.

During the visit, the delegation observed that, in addition to quality education, students are being equipped with advanced technical and vocational skills through a strong partnership among the local community, non-governmental organizations, and the government.

The purpose of the visit was to monitor best practices and promote a learning exchange so that successful community-led education models can be replicated across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to help reduce the number of out-of-school girls.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sumera Shams reaffirmed KPCSW’s commitment to promoting equal educational opportunities for girls and ensuring that effective, community-driven initiatives are expanded throughout the province.

The delegation emphasized that collaborative efforts among government institutions, local communities, and development partners are essential to achieving inclusive and equitable education, ensuring that no girl is left behind.
