The race for the FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-finals reaches its decisive stage on Tuesday as the final two Round of 16 matches will determine the last remaining places in the tournament’s last eight.

Defending champions Argentina take on a determined Egypt side in one of the most anticipated knockout encounters. Despite being favourites, Argentina are expected to face a stern challenge after surviving a tough Round of 32 contest. Egypt, boosted by renewed confidence and key players returning to fitness, will be aiming to produce one of the tournament’s biggest upsets.

In the day’s second fixture, Switzerland face Colombia in what promises to be an evenly balanced contest. Both teams have impressed with disciplined performances throughout the tournament and will be eager to secure a historic place in the quarter-finals.
