ALMATY (Kazakhstan): Pakistan made a historic start to the Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship 2026 by producing an outstanding performance on the opening day, winning two gold medals, two silver medals, and securing the prestigious title of Best Under-16 Team of Asia.
The remarkable achievement came in the Under-16 Duo Show System competitions, where Pakistan’s talented athletes Zainera Zulfiqar and Sundas Ali displayed exceptional technical skills, teamwork and synchronization to clinch the gold medal. Their victory crowned Pakistan as the Under-16 Asian Champion, with the national flag raised and the national anthem played during the medal ceremony in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Pakistan continued its impressive run as Abdul Rehman and Amna Irfan delivered another strong performance to win the silver medal, while hosts Kazakhstan finished with the bronze medal.
The combined results enabled Pakistan to secure the overall title of Best Under-16 Team of Asia, marking one of the greatest achievements in the history of Pakistan Ju-Jitsu and highlighting the country’s growing stature in the sport at the continental level.
The Asian Ju-Jitsu Championship 2026 has brought together around 728 athletes from 25 Asian countries, competing across multiple categories. Pakistan’s exceptional start has placed the country among the leading contenders for further honours in the championship.
Congratulating the national team, the Chairman of the Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation said the achievement was the result of the federation’s effective planning, the dedication of the athletes and the professional efforts of the coaching staff. He described the titles of Under-16 Asian Champions and Best Team of Asia as a proud moment for the entire nation.
Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation Secretary General and Team Leader Tariq Ali said the outstanding opening-day performance reflected the bright future of Pakistan Ju-Jitsu. He noted that winning two gold medals, two silver medals and the Best Under-16 Team of Asia award on the very first day was evidence of the young athletes’ talent, discipline and world-class preparation.
National Head Coach Mahmood-ul-Hasan also praised the players, saying they demonstrated confidence, technical excellence and outstanding teamwork throughout the competition. He expressed confidence that the Pakistani athletes would maintain their momentum and continue winning medals in the remaining events of the championship.
Pakistan’s remarkable performance has provided an ideal start to its campaign in Almaty and reinforced the country’s growing reputation as an emerging force in Asian Ju-Jitsu.
