PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shafi Jan, along with Special Assistant for Home Affairs Tariq Saeed Marwat, visited the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Emergency Helpline Center (911) operated under the Home Department.
During the visit, Project Director Rafaqat Khan gave a detailed briefing on the operations, performance, and advanced features of the 911 emergency service. He informed that citizens can access multiple emergency services—including Police, Rescue 1122, PDMA, Tourism, and other relevant departments—through a single helpline in case of emergencies.
The briefing highlighted that the system, equipped with modern technology, ensures effective coordination among various departments and enables timely response. It was further shared that citizens can dial 911 even without a mobile SIM or network in emergency situations.
Speaking on the occasion, Shafi Jan said that the 911 emergency helpline is a key initiative aimed at providing integrated, modern, and timely emergency services to the public. He added that the technologically advanced system not only ensures quick assistance to citizens but also strengthens coordination and cooperation among relevant institutions.
He reiterated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is committed to providing modern, integrated, and rapid emergency services to the people. Shafi Jan also noted that the 911 emergency service was inaugurated in 2022 by the founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, but was later suspended by the federal government, similar to the Sehat Card program.
The minister expressed the provincial government’s resolve to utilize all available resources to provide citizens with emergency services that meet international standards.
