PESHAWAR: Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs Tariq Saeed Marwat on Wednesday reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), urging the international community to help resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
In a message issued on Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir, Marwat described August 5, 2019, as a dark day in South Asia’s history, saying India’s decision to revoke the special constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir violated international law, UN resolutions and the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people.
He said the people of Pakistan remained united on issues of national sovereignty and the Kashmir cause despite internal challenges. Marwat added that under the leadership of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and the people of the province stood firmly with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters and would continue extending political, diplomatic and moral support at every level.
The Special Assistant said the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination was based on justice and expressed confidence that their sacrifices would ultimately succeed. He concluded by praying for lasting peace, stability and prosperity in Pakistan and for the early freedom of the people of Kashmir.
