PESHAWAR: The Peshawar Business Alliance has claimed a major political boost ahead of the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry elections as Executive Member Haji Naseer Khan announced his joining of the alliance along with his colleagues.
An important meeting of the Peshawar Business Alliance was held at the office of Syed Zahir Ali Shah, where candidates contesting the Sarhad Chamber elections were finalized.
Addressing the meeting, alliance leaders and candidates including Shah Rukh Khan, Muhammad Akram, Ghulam Hussain and Irfan said the business community needed strong, transparent and effective representation. They criticized the existing leadership of the chamber and called for an end to what they described as the influence of a “control group.”
The leaders said traders should cast their votes on merit rather than personal relationships, group affiliations or tradition. They pledged to make the chamber an effective voice for traders and focus on issues including inflation, taxation, electricity and gas prices, customs problems and other barriers to business.
They said the Peshawar Business Alliance aimed to strengthen the chamber through consultation, merit and collective representation, while promoting investment, employment and economic activity in the city.
Haji Naseer Khan, a key member of the Businessmen Forum and Executive Member of the Sarhad Chamber, announced his decision to join the Peshawar Business Alliance along with his colleagues. He said making the chamber independent and effective was the need of the hour.
The alliance appealed to the business community to support its candidates in the upcoming elections and said the vote could pave the way for meaningful change in Peshawar’s business community.
