PESHAWAR: The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Mardan and the University of Peshawar (UoP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote Artificial Intelligence (AI), cyber security training, research and digital transformation in higher education across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The MoU was signed by UET Mardan Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Muhammad Khan and University of Peshawar Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Johar Ali.
Under the agreement, UET Mardan will arrange specialized AI and cyber security training programmes for students and graduates of the University of Peshawar. As the designated AI Hub of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, UET Mardan will also provide tailored AI training for UoP’s senior management, faculty members and administrative leadership, focusing on AI-based governance, ethical technology use and institutional efficiency.
The agreement also provides for reciprocal access to engineering laboratories, research centres, workshops, digital libraries, research databases, incubation hubs, seminar halls and innovation facilities. Both universities will collaborate on capacity building, academic research and joint publications.
UET Mardan’s technical experts will develop specialized AI training modules, while the University of Peshawar will facilitate administrative coordination, venues and logistical arrangements.
Director Planning and Development Engr. Athar and University of Peshawar Registrar Dr. Yorid Ahsan Zia were also present at the MoU signing ceremony.
The partnership aims to strengthen academic cooperation, promote technological innovation and equip students and university leadership with the skills needed to meet emerging digital challenges.
